Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National ParkSet in the west of the Great East African Rift Valley, and bordered by the Rwenzori Mountains (the legendary mist capped “Mountains of the Moon”). The Park incorporates a variety of lakes from fresh water lakes and inland salt lakes to mirror surfaced crater lakes. Here you will find marshland, broad savanna, wetlands, gallery and lowland forest.
The bird list alone runs to over 550 species – the largest of any protected area in Africa, 95 mammal species and hundreds of species of butterflies. The Park can be accessed from Kampala either via Masaka and Mbarara or via Fort Portal. Please seek advice from the staff of Eco-Specialists Tours about these routes, depending on your interest, time and travel itinerary and budget.
