Mpanga Forest Reserve
This is located along the Kampala - Masaka road on the way to Lake Mburo National Park. It takes only a half an hour to get there when one is driving. The road is tarmac so any type of vehicle in good mechanical condition, can get here without hassle. Given its uniqueness in terms of appearance and diversity, it is managed as Strict Nature Reserve by the National Forestry Authority. Here you can see the Red tailed monkey, the Great Blue Turaco on one of the trails in the forest. One can also have a chance to see how the local musical instruments are made - the drums.
Here is an example of a virgin forest.
