Budongo Forest Reserve

Budongo ForestIt is located northwest of Uganda on the way to Murchison Falls National Park. The forest is home to one of the largest population of chimpanzees in the world. Some of these chimps have been habituated which makes it easy for visitors to see them. It is the only forest with the biggest population of heavy mahogany (Entandophragma utile) trees in East Africa a species which is globally endangered. The forest has other primates like the blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys. Bird watching is superb in the royal mile. One can see the lemon – bellied crombec, Ituri Batis, the Nahan’s francolin, green backed twin spot and many others.
